Intro into my design thinking and work philosophy.

DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE

A hybrid UXer, design strategist, marketer & an advertising designer who solves meaningful problems and designs delightful end-to-end experiences since 9+ years and has 1.5+ years of experience managing cross disciplinary teams.

Currently leading small & mid-sized multi-disciplinary teams & projects on the Samsung US account at Publicis Sapient.

My superpowers - equanimity, listening before talking, thinking before solution-ing and championing diversity.

My day-to-day involves setting & executing the project vision, mentoring creatives, being hands-on and presenting strategic design directions to the leadership within dynamic and ambiguous environments.

Adventures I’m proud to have taken: Co-founding my startup and launching iOS and Android dating app in India. Getting coached from the world-class storyteller Adam Wade and using it to convince cross-functional partners.

My journey

Having come from a multi disciplinary & cultural background helps me bring diverse perspectives to a design team. This gives me an advantage in experimenting with broad range of ideas. My background in development helps me come up with well-rounded solutions that are both analytical and creative.

How I Roll

My leadership style

I have shipped 65+ small-mid sized projects in the past 9+ years that have taught me some important life lessons. My core leadership tenants are:

  1. Create and communicate a bold direction that inspires end results.

  2. Care personally, listen intently and get to know what motivates each member.

  3. Outline goals, responsibilities & clear ownership.

  4. Encourage collaboration (diversity of thought leads to successful solutions - and successful solutions lead to successful organizations).

  5. Make more like me - trust thy team, provide autonomy & empower them to take full ownership.

  6. Encourage a culture of experimentation. Fail fast & often.

  7. Challenge directly and give & receive radically candid feedback >> in the moment >> not just during yearly reviews.

  8. Do and expect a world class effort.

  9. Create a safe space for everyone to bring their true authentic selves to work - in short, celebrate diversity of all kinds.

  10. Take what’s thrown at you - treat no task beneath - and learn what you don’t know.

Building design processes

Over the course of 1.5 yrs, I have introduced systemic, organizational and design changes within the teams I’ve worked in:

  • Scheduling 1:1 check-ins with my team-members to collect feedback while building a culture of open & honest communication.

  • Creating on-boarding programs for entry level & new hires to seamlessly integrate them into the team & the work.

  • Collaborating with SEO to increase organic page search rankings to facilitate better page discovery & build seamless end-to-end experiences.

  • Collaborating with data analytics from project kick-off to launch to inform data-driven solutions.

Managing & facilitating client business relationships

“We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak”. Having worked in an agency setting for 6+ years while managing vendor & partner relationships at my startup, I have a simple rule: Listen, communicate and provide a holistic rationale based on best-practices from multiple disciplines. My value addition begins when understanding of the client’s business and its customers starts.

Mentoring

I directly manage two Junior UX designers & a Senior Experience Designer as well as small-mid sized multi-disciplinary teams on the Samsung account. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing people grow from their un-jaded selves to seasoned professionals. My special & unique powers as a manager would be - listening with intent and caring personally.

Building culture & celebrating diversity

A good company culture is paramount to me. Teams & organizations that are inclusive and diverse are the most successful. Culture makes people understand each other better and if we understand each other’s soul, we can move mountains together. I create an atmosphere where people can bring their true selves to work through diverse ethnic, socio, economic, political and sexual orientation backgrounds.

“Culture eats strategy for breakfast.”
— Peter Drucker
